Loan fund benefits Crane Lake Marina

Grand Rapids, MN – Handberg’s Marina recently received a $100,000 Revolving Loan Fund from Lake Country Power to support its expansion to build a new repair and retail marine store in Crane Lake, Minn.

“Honestly, we couldn’t have done the project without Lake Country Power’s help,” said Lori Sanborn, co-owner of Handberg’s Marina with her husband Jeff. “Lake Country Power was such a fun piece of our expansion project. The funding helped bridge the gap between what the bank provided and what we were able to provide.”  

First winter storm wreaks havoc

Grand Rapids, MN – An overnight snowstorm is affecting electric service for nearly 2,500 Lake Country Power members. Those affected are mostly located in the cooperative’s Mountain Iron service area, including Lake Vermilion, Ely, Orr and Crane Lake. Additional outages are affecting members in the Grand Rapids and Kettle River service areas as well.

Many trees came down on power lines from the heavy, wet snow. Line crews are replacing broken poles, too. The biggest factor affecting outage restoration

History in the Making: Travelers can now fast-charge electric cars all the way to the North Shore

Grand Rapids, MN – The newest electric vehicle fast-charger, the charger that completes Minnesota’s all-electric highway from the Twin Cities to the North Shore, was unveiled Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 11:00 a.m. in Sturgeon Lake., Minn.  Officials from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), ZEF Energy, Lake Country Power, Great River Energy and Doc’s Sports Bar & Grill, were on hand to cut the ribbon to mark the history-making occasion.


Be on alert for possible scams

A Lake Country Power member has reported being “spoofed” by a call that displayed a cooperative phone number in the caller ID. Please, do not give out private information over the phone. LCP employees will never ask you for sensitive information, nor will they solicit goods, over the phone.

If you receive a call from Lake Country Power that you didn’t initiate, or that seems suspicious, please hang up and call us back at 1-800-421-9959 to speak to a co-op representative.

Rachel’s Challenge coming to The Range

Grand Rapids, MN – Each day 160,000 students do not go to school because they are bullied, teased and harassed. As part of its commitment to community, Lake Country Power will be sponsoring a challenging and powerful message of kindness and compassion for students at the Virginia High School and East Range Academy.

Since 2010, Lake Country Power has sponsored Rachel's Challenge for 15 local schools.     

LCP appoints Cooper, DiIorio and Jensen as apprentice lineworkers

August 22, 2017

Grand Rapids, MN – Lake Country Power recently appointed three individuals as apprentice lineworkers – Dan Cooper of Saginaw, Zach DiIorio of Nashwauk and Derek Jensen of Baxter.

Cooper will report to the co-op’s McGregor Outpost, DiIorio will work from the Remer Outpost and Jensen will report from the Ely Outpost. 

They will assist lineworkers in the construction and maintenance of Lake Country Power’s electric distribution system while training to become journeyman lineworkers.
