Lake Country Power line crews are making great progress in restoring service to members affected by an overnight winter storm. More than 3,000 members were impacted late Tuesday night as mixed precipitation and high winds blew across the service territory.

With the effort of all available crews and additional support from Lake States Construction, as of Wednesday afternoon less than 350 members are currently still affected. Conditions have cleared significantly, allowing for better road travel, and it is expected that most of the remaining outages will be restored by later tonight.

Lake Country Power invests time and resources year-round to prepare for inclement weather by proactively clearing the rights-of-way, danger trees, and focusing on building a storm-hardened distribution system. This gives lineworkers the ability to respond and restore service quickly when called upon.

“I’m amazed by the response of our operations department at times like this,” said Greg Schulzetenberg, LCP Director of Member Relations & Energy Services. “Our system is built for weather, but when trouble arises, our line crews fight adverse conditions to get the job done and restore power.”
